Please read all the information below and contact Penny Casto or Leigh Ann Little if you have questions.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give our program visibility and exposure in Guilford County Schools and in the community.  It is a chance for us to educate the community about the high quality of the visual art curriculum within Guilford County Elementary Schools.  Your participation in this event plays a crucial role in the importance of the arts within the community.  We look forward to seeing your students’ work.

Please follow the guidelines below:

Matting Guidelines

Please do your best to follow these guidelines.  We have managed to fit everyone’s work into the show each year.  If your work is a little over the measurements that is fine. We will have work that is under the measurements and it always seems to balance out.  If you have a large piece that you want to exhibit that is larger than 18” x 24” that is fine but choose another piece that is smaller since you only have a

  • Each school will have an 88” x 112” space for your mounted artwork, which will fit larger and smaller pieces. You may choose to hang all of your works on four standard sized poster boards which are 22” x 28” or mount work on individual boards.

  • Mat or mount the work on a poster board with a 1” - 1 1/2” border.  A colored inner border can be used.

  • Small, similar pieces can be mounted together, but please avoid mounting large pieces on the same piece of poster board.

  • Label each artwork using the Guilford County School art label.

  • All work must be able to be mounted on the display panels. (3-dimensional work has been able to be mounted in the past, please use your best judgment. i.e. nothing that protrudes more than inch outward and nothing heavy)

Other information:

Creative Greensboro requires that a file of the show be submitted before any artwork can be hung. Please upload your digital versions of student work along with an artist statement if available for each piece to this PowerPoint by Feb 24, 2024. If you need help, contact Leigh Ann or Penny! 😊

Please fill out this form by March 5, 2024 so we may have certificates available for your students on the date of the reception.

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and feels renewed and ready for a fantastic year for art.

Happy New Year and for those of you who are new...Welcome and I look forward to seeing everyone and meeting all our new teachers. Just a heads about our annual YAM (Youth Art Month) exhibit. Our elementary art exhibit is during the month of March, and our exhibit takes place in the artium space of at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Greensboro. Each school is alloted approximately 4 - 18x24 inch spaces. It is always good to start saving student work from the beginning of the school year. So pull and tuck away those special pieces.

Ninette Humber and I will be working together as the YAM Exhibit co-ordinators. We will be sending more information your way as the year progesses.
Stayed tuned: Katie Armistead
